About GAM

We Represent Georgia's Manufacturers

The Georgia Association of Manufacturers (GAM) is the only trade group in the state exclusively dedicated to manufacturers.

We were formed in 1900 by industry, for industry. We are manufacturing’s association of record, its advocate, its voice.

Our mission is to be “visible, vocal and vital”. Put another way, we are driven to be seen and heard on the issues that matter most to our members.

Today GAM numbers over 150 companies, suppliers, and professional services firms. And we are growing. GAM companies include some of the smallest and largest in the state, giving us strength through diversity. Combined, our membership employs 200,000 people – roughly half the state’s manufacturing workforce.

GAM

We're more than an advocacy and policy making organization. Our role is to facilitate the 3 a.m. conversation - peer support from fellow manufacturers who have faced similar issues that keep you up at night. We're the convenor for some of the most talented leaders in the State who play a vital and critical role in Georgia's current economy. Our members are also building an amazing future for our State and workforce.

GAM is the statewide trade association that represents all of Georgia's manufacturing businesses in legislative, energy, regulatory, and public affairs matters.  GAM also provides seminars, services and guidance to manufacturers on a wide range of issues, including but not limited to human resources, workforce development, public utility rates and energy, safety and health, employee benefits, environmental quality and taxation.

Active membership in GAM is open to all businesses in Georgia that are engaged in manufacturing.  The Association also is supported by many Associate members who provide goods and services to Georgia's manufacturers.

Georgia is a state that matters. For the past 10 years, we have been cited as the number one state in the US in which to do business. Georgia's ability to attract the industries of the future. In addition to our world class leading flooring and aviation manufacturers, historic companies like Great Dane and Evans Tool and Die, we also have Google and Microsoft, leading edge solar, electric vehicle and advanced materials companies.

History

The Association was originally founded in 1900 as the Cotton Manufacturers Association of Georgia.  In 1959, the association transitioned to representing the textile industry as the Georgia Textile Manufacturers Association.  Later, as GTMA, the Association welcomed Georgia’s carpet industries to its ranks.  Then, in 2007, GTMA became the Georgia Traditional Manufacturers Association to officially expand its membership to include any company who operates a manufacturing facility in Georgia.

In 2011, GTMA, in recognition of its increasingly diverse membership, changed its name to the Georgia Association of Manufacturers.  Now, as GAM, the Association continues to represent its members well into its second century of existence.

Today, GAM is taking bold steps to increase its capacity and capability to meet and exceed member needs well into the future.
