Listen Now: A Conversation with Public Service Commission Candidate Tim Echols
Clay Jones & Brittney Hull had the pleasure of speaking with Georgia Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols on our podcast to discuss his re-election campaign, his thoughts on the state of Georgia's energy prices, the potential impact of data centers on utility usage, and the future of solar power versus natural gas.
The statewide race for District 2 is on the ballot on November 4, 2025 for a seat on the Georgia Public Service Commission. This special election was called because of delays due to litigation, resulting in two Commission seats appearing on the ballot in an off-year.
Note that while PSC Commissioners are in geographic districts for residency purposes, all PSC races are statewide elections.
District 2: Incumbent Tim Echols is running for re-election to the Commission, having served since 2010. In order to reset the Commissioner terms after the litigation, this race is for a five-year term ending in 2030, after which the seat will go back to full six-year terms.
Early voting has already begun. The general election is on November 4, 2025.
GAM has endorsed Commissioner Echols. We believe his experience, understanding of business needs and specific appreciation for manufacturing, and commitment to the long-term economic future of Georgia merit his re-election. Commissioner Echols has supported a diverse supply mix of nuclear, natural gas and renewables, freezing base rates for three years and implementing regulations to ensure that very large data centers pay the costs they bring to the system and not shift those costs to other customers.
GAM does not tell members how to vote or suggest that members tell their employees how to vote. We respect the rights of all voters to select the candidate of their choice.
