Participation in GAM Committees provides members with a value-added opportunity to help shape the agenda of the Association while also learning from industry colleagues regarding the relevant issues and current obstacles faced by manufacturers. Through its committees chaired by senior executives of member companies, GAM helps members operate and compete more effectively:
The Public Utility Rates and Energy Committee evaluates Georgia Power Company's requests for rate and fuel cost increases and supports the GAM staff in its advocacy role before the Public Service Commission and General Assembly.
The Legislative Committee develops legislative priorities and works with the General Assembly to achieve GAM’s legislative goals.
The Environmental Quality Committee works with regulators to ensure reasonable environmental rules and regulations for manufacturers and to help members with compliance. The committee promotes environmental stewardship, helping members implement processes that sustain the environment and ensure quality production.
The Tax Committee develops proposals to reduce state income and sales tax burdens on manufacturers and supports the GAM staff in its advocacy role before the General Assembly and Department of Revenue.
The Safety and Health Committee helps companies improve workplace safety and protect and improve the health of their workplace. The Committee plans and oversees the GAM annual Safety Contest, which provides standards for measuring safety performance and recognizes top-performing companies, and develops the agenda and program for the resulting annual Safety Conference and Awards Luncheon,
The Human Resources and Plant Management Committee helps members on critical issues such as employment law, health care law, immigration, best practices management and workers' compensation. The Committee also plans and oversees the annual Human Resources / Plant Management Seminar.
